The Air King was launched back in the 1940s by Rolex owner, Hans Wildorf, after the WWII to honour RAF pilots for their service with aviation themed timepieces. The "Air" range included the Air King, Air Giant, Air Lion and the Air Tiger. However the production of the 'Air' range ceased in the '60s and only the Air King remained.
The Rolex Air King is known for its simple design with elegant dials and bracelet. It was eventually fitted with an automatic movement and a limited number of Air King Date were launched in the '70s. Although this watch is not as complex as other ranges, it is one of the longest manufactured watches by Rolex and is very popular because of its great history.
