Rolex launched a new sports watch in 1992, 28 years after the Daytona was released back in 1964. It was available in 18kt gold with white dial containing the calibre 3135 movement, used in both the Sea Dweller and the Submariner. The Yacht-Master II was unveiled in 2007 with a bigger, 44mm case and because there was no specific useful feature for people on boats on the current Yacht-Master, Rolex introduced a new feature known as the 'Regatta Time'. This feature helps yacht skippers to have a perfect start by using the inner scale to count down by minute, which can be set in advance before the start of a race and can be altered on the fly to match the official countdown perfectly.
This watch was only available in bi-colour or 18kt gold but at Baselworld 2013, a stainless steel version was released which features a blue Cerachrom 'Ring Command' bezel which matches the stainless steel beautifully. The movement has also been updated to calibre 4161 rather than 4160 seen in later models of the Yacht-Master.
