TUDOR PELAGOS

The Pelagos has been on my wrist almost a week now and loving it. I haven't worn a watch since late July, so it felt strange at first but I barely notice it is there now (it is only about 15g heavier than my previous Tissot quartz!).

I think the size is just right for my wrist. I was also looking at (fawning over!) a Bremont Boeing Chrono pre-owned but having tried this and few others with larger cases, I think it would have been to just to big for me. Also compared to other makers, the Pelagos looks somewhat understated, but with it's simple & well defined lines of construction and the grey of the Ti on the case & bracelet, it oozes a utilitarian class and quality (the definative 'Tool Watch').

After buying the watch, I was worried about some comments I had read on various sites about the Grade 2 Ti being easily scatched! Infact first time in the pool (I swim about 5 - 6 km per week), I manged to scuff the bracelet on the tiled pool wall (note to self - put on the rubber strap if swimming!), but a quick buff and a couple of days for the Ti to oxidise and you seriously cannot see any marks at all! On the Ti, I noticed straight away how 'warm' and smooth it feels compared to the steel of my Tissot, this adds to the comfort on the wrist.

After being set up by Market Cross Jewelers last weekend, it has lost about 1/2 a second total, so very impressed (again) compared to what I had been led to expect from an auto movement.

I have been looking for a luxury watch for a couple of months and after pouring over reviews on various brands decided to try on this TUDOR Pelagos just to see the fit and look. I was planning on a pre-owned watch, but the market is so skewed there wasn't much between a brand new model with full warranty and a pre-owned watch with just a couple of years left. Tried this one on in the Boro store and fell in love with it straight away. I went away for a coffee and a cool down think but decided "nope take this one before someone else" and went back to the store to try it again and make my purchase.
Well what can I say? The watch looks fantastic in titanium grey - functional, understated, elegant but you can see the quality of the engineering. It has a bulky presence which oozes style and poise. Despite its size, because of the titanium, it is light on the wrist (it's only slightly heavier than the Tissot quartz PR100 if is replacing) and very comfortable. The team at Market Cross fitted the watch and made sure if was set correctly and comfortable before I left and even offered to adjust or swap the straps if I wanted. Overall a fantastic service and a beautiful 'Tool Watch' which should last me decades!
