Superocean Automatic 42 UK Edition Black Bracelet

In the 1960s scuba diving was the new sport of the moment, and Breitling set out to build the most clear-cut dive watch possible. The result was the Slow Motion, with clean lines, bold luminescent indexes, squared-off hands and a high-contrast dial ring, a look that became the signature of the Superocean. The Superocean Automatic 42 UK Edition carries those design codes forward with a stealth, black-on-black approach.

A black dial and black ceramic bezel create a monochromatic look, while the inner rehaut has a matt finish to reduce reflections and keep the dial easy to read. The Superocean name and the tip of the seconds hand are picked out in sharp green for a subtle touch of colour, and broad hands and indexes filled with Super-LumiNova ensure clear legibility underwater.

The 42mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 300 metres and resistant to shock, sand and saltwater. The unidirectional bezel features a scratch-resistant ceramic inlay, and inside, the COSC-certified Breitling Caliber 17 delivers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. This version is fitted with a stainless steel bracelet and a folding clasp that allows micro-adjustment of up to 15mm, making it easy to wear over a wetsuit or rash vest.

From diving and surfing to swimming and everyday wear, the Superocean has always combined performance with versatility, and few interpretations are as pared down, purposeful and unmistakably Superocean as this watch.
