The Seiko Prospex “Captain Willard” 2021 edition is a modern reinterpretation of the iconic 1970 Diver’s watch, created in honour of Japanese explorer Naomi Uemura’s 80th birthday. Uemura, the first man to climb the highest peaks on five continents, famously wore a Seiko diving watch during his expeditions, including his remarkable 12,500km dog-sled journey from Greenland to Alaska between 1974 and 1976. This timepiece pays tribute to his spirit of adventure with a design inspired by his original expedition watch.

Powered by the high-performance 8L35 automatic calibre, the watch features manual winding capability, 26 jewels, a 50-hour power reserve, and a movement beating at 28,000 vibrations per hour. The textured dial evokes the rugged mountain landscapes Uemura explored, while the curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating ensures exceptional clarity.

Its signature 44mm case includes a protected crown at the 4 o’clock position for comfort and practicality, and the watch offers 200m water resistance. Enhanced with Lumibrite on the hands, indexes, and bezel, it ensures readability in any environment.
